Seafood

Seafood

Seafood refers to the animals or plants that are eaten by humans. They include marine animals, such as fish, mammals, seafood (including shellfish), as well as algae and marine plants.

The harvest of wild seafood is called fishing. Their breeding is called aquaculture, mariculture including, in the case of fish, pisciculture (which develops rapidly and regularly from the 1980s when the catches of fishing have stagnated since the 1995s due to overfishing).
We call tide a set of seafood (fish, shellfish, crustaceans) intended for consumption (the pavilion inaugurated in 2004 at the Rungis market halls is thus called “tide pavilion”).
